I had some friends that bought new puters they finally just nuked them and reinstaled a copy of xp , Its an option

Yup, I've been working on computers for over 15 years now and unless you are running a top of the line system, I would *not* switch to Vista, it just requires too many resources. Windows XP Pro is a good, solid platform and I won't upgrade any of my systems to Vista for at least another year and a half.

G'day Ron and Prof,

My other little computor was only 40 gig and ran XP with office 2003 and worked magnificently.

This pig has 320 gig, with all the bells & whistles & will not do what I want it to and the problems I am having with it are seeming endless at the moment. The bloke who sold it to me told me it was the top line Hewlett Packard model. I HATE the bloody thing! When I get time, I intend to send Gates an abusive email.

This build has been going quite slow but I am averaging about 1/2 an hour each day and slowly getting there.

Started fitting coaming.

OK,

Still only averaging about 1/2 hour a day. Working on this has helped me to keep my head straight and de-stress a little. She seems to be coming together now all too quickly.

Thigh braces ans seat back supports are in.

Cockpit coamings are done,

Thanks mate. I am not sure there will be much to compare. Laker is a little skinnier and should be a little more slippery through the water.

I think it is a winner too. Small rec kayaks are very popular out here. The Australis Bass a little plastic boat at 10' long is our most popular kayak, though why that is so is anybodies guess. They are a pig to paddle, will not track and they don't have a quarter of the features Matt's Laker does.

As more and more people discover just how easy it is to build a better boat, at a fraction of the cost, I think wooden boat building will go from strength to strength. A rough, but very serviceable one of these could be knocked up in just a few weekends for a couple of hundred bucks (if that much).

I think I may have maxed out on my weight ambitions a little in that she will probably come in at 35 - 36 pounds and I still haven't figured that one out.

Got the first coat of varnish on yesterday.

Robin & I took her for a little walk this afternoon. She was as keen as I was to try this one out.

Robin LOVES this boat.

So do I!!

Will build up a review in the next day or so but in short, this is a great boat. It is so good, that Robin has put in an order for her own Laker - purple of course. and I will be talking to Matt very soon about this.

When I asked her wat she would like changed, her reply was "Nothing. It is perfect the way it is" That, pretty much sums up my feelings too. Laker is a stroke of genius.
