JEM Watercraft

I guess with this group, I don't have to explain why I asking questions about various plans, even though I currently have plans for two other boats that I'll begin building soon.

So, I'm wondering if someone (like Matt) could offer up a comparison between the newer Wadefish SOT version to the Cape Fear SOT. Pretty close to the same size from what I can see, but still, they are two different designs.

Which might be more suitable towards dealing with "less protected" waters, maybe be easier to do a deep-water re-entry in, or more likely to tolerate some idgit standing up in, that sort of thing.

Not asking which is "the better design," just for a comparison of which might have an advantage over the other, under different circumstances.

Thoughts?

Wadefish 2.1: Faster, more nimble, better for surf, needs more skill to keep steady if fighting a big one.

Cape Fear: Stable, lots of capacity, a little easier to build. Bigger overall boat.

At 27" wide the WF2.x is not exactly a tippy boat.

If you were comparing on a scale of 1 to 5, and the Cape Fear is a 5 on stability, I think the WF2.x would be a 4 (4.5 maybe).

Should I decided to add a SOT to my "to do list," I think it would have to be one of these two designs. I have read what has been posted on the Bluefin 12, but I think I'd want a bit more boat under me, for my intended use.

As it is, I do believe I'd go towards the Cape Fear, myself. Mostly from what Matt posted, but also partly out of a sense of "nostalgia," in that I believe the Cape Fear was the first SOT on Matt's list of designs.

But first, I will get busy with the designs I already have.
