You have the Southwind and Laker 13 ,how would you compare the stability of the 2.

G'day Ron,
Southwind is definately more stable than Laker.
Initial and secondary stability on the Southwind are superb. The boat is entirely predictable in any conditions.
Laker, as you know can feel a little "flighty" and I like that in a boat. Initial stability is fine but secondary stability can be a little tricky but great fun if ya don't mind getting wet.
I find Laker a heap more fun to paddle, simply because it is more challenging. I have had both boats in breaking waves and both were a hoot in those conditions. Southwind is rock solid stable and predictable and safer. Laker is more exciting.
A skinny 14' Southwind hull at around 24" beam with a laker or Okwata style deck would be an absolute blast and I don't think there would be any S&G kayaks currently available that could hold a candle to it.
